Artist Ed Fairburn uses the textured background of maps as a canvas for his large-scale portraits. Almost like a sculptor or stone mason carving from a block of stone, Fairburn uses meticulous ink or pencil drawing techniques, crosshatching to create portraits hidden within the maps. You can see much more of his work on Facebook.
